Portsmouth got back to winning ways on Saturday as they beat AFC Wimbledon 2-1 at Kingsmeadow to ensure top spot in League One remains theirs.

Pompey took the lead on the 24th minute when returning left-back Dion Donohue, making his first appearance of the season, whipped in a cross for Tom Naylor to head home via a deflection to give Kenny Jackett's side the lead.

It was 2-0 just seven minutes later.

Jamal Lowe did well in the build-up and fed Lee Brown whose low cross trickled right across the face of goal.

Arriving at the back post, however, was midfielder Gareth Evans who finished emphatically to put the league leaders in firm control.

The Wombles pulled one back just after the hour as James Hanson capitalised on an Evans mistake, curling the ball home brilliantly to reduce the arrears.

But Portsmouth held on, much to the relief of the travelling fans as their team got back to winning ways.
