Tuesday evening will see two of the Sky Bet Championship’s early season promotion contenders go head-to-head, when Leeds United travel to Wales to face Cardiff City.
Both clubs currently have identical records, with only goal difference separating Cardiff and Leeds at the top of the table after nine fixtures.
Neil Warnock’s side enter the fixture having returned to winning ways against Sunderland on Saturday, whilst Tuesday’s clash presents Leeds with their toughest task of the season to date.
The Bluebirds, having won their opening five fixtures, were without a victory in three heading to Sunderland over the weekend, but Warnock made sure his side got back on track at the Stadium of Light.
Goals from Craig Bryson and Joe Ralls edged Cardiff past Sunderland, helping the Welsh outfit keep the pace with Leeds, who also picked up three points, at the summit of the Championship table.
Leeds lost their first game of the season against Millwall last week, but Thomas Christiansen’s side made sure that there was no repeat against Ipswich Town on Saturday, running out 3-2 winners in a thrilling contest.
Goals from Pierre-Michel Lasogga and Kalvin Phillips in the first-half put Leeds in command, and when Pablo Hernandez saw his corner spilled into his own net by Bartosz Bialkowski, the Whites had the game won, despite Joe Garner’s strike unsettling Elland Road.
Tuesday will be a big challenge for Leeds, and Warnock will be desperate to hand his former employers a defeat.
Cardiff are at home, and we are expecting them to produce a winning display against a strong Leeds side.
