Football League World's Millwall fan pundit Samuel Scott has identified his ideal managerial candidates after Neil Harris stood down from his role on Thursday evening.

The club confirmed the news and Scott is now eager to see someone with a lot of Championship know how to help them move forward as a team in the second-tier.

"In terms of who is at the top of my list for who I want next," the regular punter pondered to Football League World.

"It would be Chris Hughton, Nigel Adkins or Gary Rowett.

"They are all experienced at this level and can take us to the next level as a club which we should aspire to be at."

All three candidates are currently out of work. Hughton and Adkins were both sacked by Brighton and Hove Albion and Hull City respectively at the end of last whilst Rowett has not worked since being relieved of his Stoke City duties in January.

Harris tookover as Lions boss back in April 2015 and had been the longest serving manager in the EFL, managing 234 matches at the helm of the club and guiding them to promotion from League One in 2017.

He then established them as a comfortable Championship club but having flirted a bit too closely with relegation last season, the pressure began to grow.

And, currently sat in 18th place with ten matches played, he clearly felt like he had taken them as far as he could, opting to move on.
