Derby County lost 1-0 to Watford last night and many Rams fans have heaped praise on Tom Lawrence after his first appearance on the season.
Joao Pedro’s outstanding effort proved the difference between the two sides on Friday evening, helping the Hornets move into the Championship top six.
Derby have now lost three of their first four games this season and are just two places above the bottom three.
In what was ultimately a frustrating evening for the Pride Park faithful, the return of Lawrence provided some positivity for the East Midlands club.
The 26-year-old has missed the start of the campaign due to injury but came on as a substitute against Watford and showed glimpses that he was back to his dynamic best.
Derby look slightly short of options in the final third having lost both Chris Martin and Jack Marriott during the summer window, so Lawrence’s return to fitness is fantastic news for Phillip Cocu and his side.
Do Nottingham Forest and Derby County have these 10 things in common?
The Welshman’s performance certainly seems to have caught the eye of Rams fans with many taking to Twitter to voice their thoughts.

Good to see Lawrence back on the pitch last night. Arguably our best player after he came on. https://t.co/QzhsdT4NLf

Lawrence very bright through the middle when he came on. Hope to see him in the 10 role more this season with Ibe and jozwiak either side

You saw in just a short period of time how a player like Tom Lawrence can make a huge difference. Add in Jozwiak, Waghorn, Bielik and a fit Jordon Ibe and we're a completely different proposition. Yes tonight was a difficult watch at times, but patience is needed #dcfcfans #dcfc

Beaten by a wonderstrike from the wonderkid pedro, did highlight him as watfords dangerman in my preview and i was right. Nice to see lawrence get some minutes on the pitch looked lively. Rooney should of buried his chance. Better performance but need to start scoring #DCFC

Happy with the performance, good signs but just didn’t have the quality but we know all our brightest players were missing. Could see the difference Lawrence made #dcfc

Worked hard, looked more organised at the back but zero goal threat for much of the game. Only started to create chances when Lawrence came on. Sooner we have missing attacking options available the better. Need to do everything possible to start getting them on the pitch! #dcfc

Positives from tonight
– Buchanan is ace – better than any of the other LBs we've had recently
– Byrne great again.
– Knight should be name 1 on teamsheet, what a workrate
– Rooney did look fitter today thankfully
– Lawrence showed flashes of what we need #dcfc #dcfcfans
