Preston could be set to make an approach for Bristol Rovers striker Jonson Clarke-Harris when the transfer window reopens in the summer.

The striker has been in top form since moving to the Memorial Stadium in January, scoring nine times in 11 appearances, leading to a number of Championship clubs taking interest in the 24-year-old.

According to The Daily Mail, one of those clubs is Preston, with the Lancashire side potentially set to be rivalled by Hull and Reading for his signature.

So, would Clarke-Harris be a good fit at Deepdale?

We asked some of our writers for their thoughts...

Jay Taylor

“I would see this as a buy just to bolster the squad.

“Preston have not long signed Jayden Stockley - so Clarke-Harris may be forced to play second-fiddle.

“That is not what the striker does - so I can’t see this being a move that makes sense.”

Louie Chandler

"I think Preston can do better.

"They are a side that now challenges for the top six on a regular basis and should be able to attract someone of a higher calibre.

"However, they have delved in League One and Two before so it would not be a huge surprise."

Toby Wilding

"Preston already have plenty of options in this area, so this seems like a strange signing.

"Clarke-Harris has been in decent form in League One this season but his Championship record isn't great, and with Preston's growing ambitions, there could be better options around."

George Harbey

"I don’t see the point in this.

"Preston already have plenty of good attacking options at the club, and I can’t see Clarke-Harris wanting to become a back-up option.

"Jayden Stockley hasn’t really been given a chance yet, so I’m quite surprised by this."
