Barnsley midfielder Cameron McGeehan has shared his thoughts on the FA’s recent decision to ban him for three games, saying he is ‘very disappointed’.

The decision comes following an unseen incident during the Tykes’ 3-0 win against Southend United, leading the 23-year-old to be charged with violent conduct.

Taking to Instagram, McGeehan wrote: “Very disappointed with the decision to ban me for 3 games.

“He moved his leg as I jumped over him. 3 massive games coming up for the boys and I know the lads can get the points.

“I’ll be back positive, fresh and ready for the run.”

This weekend sees Barnsley welcome Accrington Stanley to Oakwell as they look to consolidate their position in League One’s automatic promotion spots.

Daniel Stendel’s side currently sit in second place with 35 games played as they look to make an immediate return to the Championship.

McGeehan has been one of the club’s most consistent performers this season, racking up 31 appearances and five goals in the process.

The verdict

It is very hard to disagree with McGeehan here it has to be said.

The incident seemed unfortunate and fairly innocuous at the time and a three match ban seems incredibly harsh.

It is a big test of Daniel Stendel’s managerial abilities now, though, and if he can guide them through this spell then promotion will come.
