Huddersfield Town have consistently upset the odds this season in the Championship and it has developed a siege mentality amongst the squad.

The Terriers were battling relegation in their first two campaigns following relegation from the Premier League, and, for that reason, not many people expected them to be anywhere near the promotion picture, let alone the top half this time around.

To finish third is an incredible achievement in itself for Carlos Corberan and everyone involved at the club, but that will be no immediate consolation if they lose out to Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

Cameron Jerome played a big part of the Luton Town's play-off semi final defeat to the Terriers, and the 35-year-old went into detail on their key strengths when he appeared on 72+.

He said: "First and foremost, I'd say they're a very organised side.

"Tactically, the manager's (Carlos Corberan) got them in a low block formation, they don't commit too many bodies forward, they're quite structured in the way they play and rigid.

"But, what they have got is energy, in the wide areas, full backs and the wingers, they have got good legs in midfield in terms of O'Brien and Jonathan Russell.

"And they've got a goalkeeper who's probably been one of the best in the league, so they don't concede many goals, they don't concede many chances, they're not very expansive and they stay in the game.

"They score a lot of goals from set pieces, I think they're the highest scorers from set pieces in the league, they're very tactically good, and I think you've got to give the manager a lot of credit.

"Not having many signings, not really having any money to spend as such, but the turnaround from last year to this year has been exceptional, so you have to give them credit where credit is due."

The backline has been the standout area of the pitch for the Terriers this season, and welcoming Levi Colwill back into the side for the second leg against the Hatters was a huge boost.

The Verdict

Colwill, 19, has had an outstanding season on loan from Chelsea and looks set to play Premier League football next season.

However, it will be a huge test of the teenage defender's ability, to try and stop the productivity of Brennan Johnson and Djed Spence from Forest's right flank on Sunday, with Harry Toffolo for help just ahead of him.

The final is being billed as an evenly matched encounter after how well the Terriers finished the season, the midfield tussle could be particularly enticing as well, with Lewis O'Brien and Ryan Yates heading up the physical battle.

The Terriers have had an outstanding season and have given themselves a great platform to build on, regardless of the result on Sunday.
