Nottingham Forest are one of several clubs in England showing interest in former Manchester City defender Cameron Humphreys, according to the Daily Mail

The report states that the 23-year-old centre-back is out of contract at Belgian side Zulte Waregem this summer, and is weighing up a potential return to England.

With that being said, we thought we'd weigh up whether or not it was a good move for the Reds, whether or not Humphreys would start for them, and what he would bring to the club.

Is it a good potential move?

In most cases, free signings are good moves, largely due to the small amount of risk involved in the business and in this instance, things would be no different.

Humphrey's would be a small risk for Forest to take on a free, and when you consider his pedigree, too, it seems like a good move for the club to make.

Having come through Manchester City's youth system, Humphreys has gone on to make 55 appearances for Zulte Waregem in Belgium's top flight - the Jupiler Pro League - so he has a fair amount of experience behind him for his age, and at a good level, too.

He would still need to prove himself and his physicality in England, particularly in a league such as tough as the Championship, but having grown up through the academy system here in England, it shouldn't take much adaptation.

Would he start?

It's hard to say, but as above, he would certainly need to prove he is up to the physical challenge before he would do.

Forest have some excellent options at centre-back that he would be required to displace, too, with the likes of Joe Worrall, Steve Cook and Scott McKenna on their books.

As well as that, there is Tobias Figueiredo and Loic Mbe Soh and Jonathan Panzo all fighting for starting berths.

With that being said, though, Humphreys would probably be ahead of Mbe Soh and Figueiredo at present, given the fact he is playing week in, week out, in one of Europe's top leagues, and he would certainly be competitive in terms of trying to gain a starting place with Cook and McKenna.

Joe Worrall's future remains up in the air, too, which could provide Humphrey's with an opening.

What does he bring ?

Having come through Manchester City's youth system whilst Pep Guardiola is in charge of the club, Humphreys fits the profile of a modern-day centre back.

He is comfortable on the ball, boasting an 87.9% pass accuracy this season according to WyScout, whilst also winning 64.5 % of his defensive duels, and 64.6% of his aerial duels.

Humphreys's also makes 5.49 interceptions per 90, as well as 9.1 ball recoveries in the opposition half per 90, too.

All in all, Humphreys is a defensively dominant, composed centre-half, that could bring a lot to Nottingham Forest were he to make the move to the County Ground this summer.
