Shrewsbury Town have added another name to their squad for the coming season with the signing of defender Cameron Gayle.
After two loan spells with the Shrews over the last two seasons, 21 year-old Gayle has signed a two-year contract following his release by West Bromwich Albion.
He had been on trial with the club and impressed the manager, Micky Mellon, enough to be offered a permanent deal in Shorpshire.
Mellon told the club’s official website: “I’m delighted to get Cameron on board, he’s a terrific young defender who can cover a number of positions across the back four but especially in both full-back positions.
“He’s a terrific athlete who has come from such a good club as West Brom so he has been schooled in the right way and is the type of player we want at the club.
“Cameron is the right age, a good footballer, a good all-round guy and I’m excited about having another huge potential player in the building.”
