Cambridge United complete signing of 24-year-old full back

Cambridge United have confirmed the signing of free agent Blair Adams on their official website.

The left back was released by Notts County at the end of the 2015/16 season but joins up again with Shaun Derry – who signed him whilst at Notts County.

The 5’9” defender has plenty of experience in the lower leagues despite only being 24 and adds another defensive option for Cambridge.

Adams started his career at Sunderland but failed to make a first team appearance for the Premiership club and was loaned out to Brentford, Northampton and Coventry. His loan move to Coventry was made permanent in January 2013 before they mutually parted ways in summer 2014. He then moved to Notts County on a free and spent two years with them before being released.

The former England under-20 international becomes Cambridge’s sixth signing of the summer after the arrivals of Medy Elito, David Gregory, George Maris, Piero Mingoia and the loan capture of Max Clark from Hull.

Cambridge fans – what do you think? Is Adams a good signing? Who starts at left back with Adams, Clark and Taylor all on your books? Let us know in the comments below…
