Bristol City are reportedly interested in Nimes defensive midfielder Theo Valls, which has drawn a concerned response from plenty of fans of the South West club.

The 24-year-old is out of contract with the Ligue 1 club in the summer and is a free agent following the decision in France to bring an end to the season early.

According to Nottinghamshire Live, City, Nottingham Forest, and Brentford are keen on the midfielder, who is also attracting attention from French sides Lens, Angers, and Brest.

Have these 15 current Bristol City players been capped at senior international level? – Yes or no?

Lee Johnson has lost two of his most trusted midfield lieutenants over the past 12 months, with Marlon Pack joining Cardiff City in August and Josh Brownhill moving to Burnley in January.

That has left him with Korey Smith, Adam Nagy, Han-Noah Massengo, and on-loan Hull City man Markus Henriksen, while both Liam Walsh and Joe Morrell have impressed out on loan.

The Bristol Post's Gregor MacGregor addressed City's interest in Valls earlier today and confirmed that the Robins were looking for a defensive midfielder.

The interest in Valls has not been particularly well-received by fans of the Bs3 outfit, with some concerned it may mean Johnson won't use his returning loanees and others suggesting it could spell the end for Smith.
