Despite a difficult few weeks at Pride Park, Derby County turned a corner this week after appointing former Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett as their new head coach.

The former Blues boss, who was adored by the home faithful at his new side will take the reigns at Derby after an extended spell out of the game, where it was no secret that other clubs wanted his service.

But it’s the Rams who have won the race for his signature and as he starts work this week, there’s plenty of Derby fans who are feeling a lot more optimistic about the future.

They’ve slipped off the pace when it comes to the play-offs in recent weeks but moving onto next season, could Rowett be the man to lead a hefty title charge?

Some think so, but there’s definite deadwood in this Derby side that isn’t going to help them move forward in the slightest.

So with that in mind, here’s the TWO Derby County players that are most likely to quit the club this summer…

Andreas Weimann

Gary Rowett is known for his industrious, hard working approach to the game but there’s little doubting Andreas Weimann’s time at Pride Park could be up.

He’s been on-loan at Wolves and doing decently, without grabbing the headlines but with the quality that is already on offer at the club, he’s going to struggle to break back in.

The Austrian is as hard-working as they come but moving to a new club might be the best thing for his career moving forward.

Johnny Russell

Another forward player who might quit the club this summer is Johnny Russell, who unlike Weimann, hasn’t left the club on-loan this campaign.

A move to Birmingham City was touted in January but it fell through and he’s since stayed at the iPro but has lost the fight for a starting place in the team more often than not.

And with David Nugent coming in this January, it’s become even tougher for the Scotsman to break into the first-team. He could quit out of frustration this summer.
