Aitor Karanka was on the receiving end of a lot of criticism last season for the way he set up his team and the subsequent results his side suffered.

But, nobody can say he isn’t trying to change things round this summer, as Forest have already bought in a number of players to bolster their squad going into the new season, with the likes of Joao Carvalho, Lewis Grabban, Michael Dawson and Costel Pantilimon amongst the new faces at the City Ground.

Aitor Karanka will still however be looking to add new additions to his side this summer, and push on from what was an underwhelming 2017/18 campaign.

Having started their preseason with matches against Lincoln Red Imps and Real Betis, the Tricky Trees will be hoping to have enough time and minutes on the field to let their new look squad bond as a team.

Despite the influx of transfer already, here are the transfer agreements that Nottingham Forest need to secure this summer.

With the likes of Patrick Bamford, Britt Assombalonga and Martin Braithwaite to contend with for the striker spot at Middlesbrough, Aitor Karanka should be looking to snatch Rudy Gestede from their Championship rivals.

While Gestede was first choice striker for the large majority of last season for Tony Pulis’ side, a long injury gave Bamford and Assombalonga the chance to impress, and possible keep their places in the starting eleven.

The lack of goal threat for the Tricky Trees is a real concern, and the signing of a prolific goal scorer will be enough for the Forest faithful to get excited about the season to come.

As Forest continue to look for a new right back, eyes turn to Sam Byram once again, after having been linked with a potential transfer earlier in this summer’s transfer window.

Having sold Eric Lichaj, the importance of this signing could be crucial, and the West Ham full back could be the perfect replacement, even, an upgrade.

Seemingly on the brink of the West Bromich Albion first team, Yacob might be looking for a move away and some more constant first team football.

While Forest have been in the market for central midfielders, the experience and fight that the Argentine shows each game is an appealing thought for the Tricky Trees, who lacked leadership in the middle of the park last season.
