‘By far our greatest win of the season’ – Wolves fans react to priceless away win

Wolverhampton Wanderers extended their lead at the summit of the Sky Bet Championship table with an excellent away win at Bristol City.

The top of the table clash provided the chasing pack with the perfect opportunity to claw back the ever-growing gap between Nuno Santo’s side and their challengers, but the Portuguese boss’ men rose to the occasion.

Robins striker Bobby Reid had given the hosts a lead early in the second-half, before goals from Barry Douglas and a last minute winner from central defender Ryan Bennett ensured the points returned to the West Midlands.

Wolves victory was made even sweeter by the fact Santo’s men played over three quarters of the game with ten men, after defender Danny Batth was ironically given an early bath.

Bristol City keeper Frank Fielding was also dismissed just after the hour mark, allowing the visitors back into the game.

Victory ensured Santo’s side opened up a ten point gap over second-place Derby County, and will hope to extend their advantage when they welcome Dean Smith’s in-form Brentford side to Molineux.
