Derby County have, over the years, become known as one of the Championships bigger spenders, with owner Mel Morris not scared to back his club and managers.

While this summer was a quieter one under new manager Frank Lampard, only a couple of seasons ago we saw the Rams splashing the cash left, right and centre in a bid to win promotion, with various new signings coming through the door at Pride Park.

One man who signed for the club back in August of 2017 was Welsh attacking midfielder Tom Lawrence, who after impressing for Ipswich Town during a loan spell, was snapped up by the Rams in a big money deal, much to the delight of some Derby fans as we'll see further down this article.

Lawrence has in the main been a success with the Rams, but there is also an element to him which suggests he maybe should be doing more than he is in a Derby shirt.

Six goals last season, along with five this term suggest he is doing a decent amount of work in key areas for Lampard's men, but really, with a talent like his, he should be doing more.

Derby fans will of course be happy enough in the main with Lawrence, but given they paid a big fee at the time of his signing, he's hardly looking like the man who's going to take the team by the scruff of the neck and secure them a top six berth.

Looking at Lawrence, on the whole, he's been a success, but maybe not the success many of the Rams fans featured below might have hoped for...
