Leeds United secured a crucial three points in their promotion bid on Saturday, as they ran out narrow 1-0 winners over Bristol City at Elland Road.

The Whites were completely dominant from the first whistle in this one though, and limited the Robins to just one or two chances on the day.

Leeds moved three points clear of third-placed Fulham in the Championship table, after Scott Parker's side were beaten 3-0 by relegation-threatened Barnsley at Craven Cottage.

One player that has come under criticism in recent weeks is goalkeeper Kiko Casilla, who has made some costly errors that have lost Leeds vital points in their battle to win promotion into the Premier League this term.

Speaking in a recent interview (quotes sourced from the Daily Mail), Cooper praised Casilla for his performance against Bristol City, and claimed that the rest of the Leeds squad are 'buzzing for him' after some recent errors that have crept into his game.

"I'm absolutely delighted for Kiko.

"He's come in for a bit of stick but he's a confident lad. That clean sheet was for him today. He deserves it. He never changes the way he plays and he's a great lad. We're absolutely buzzing for him."

"We do our jobs and stick together through thick and thin.

"We're an honest bunch and if one messes up, another one will bail him out. That's the way it's got to be."

Casilla and his Leeds team-mates return to action this weekend when they take on Reading at Elland Road, in a game they'll be expected to come away with three points from.

The Verdict:

It's good to hear Cooper throwing his backing behind Casilla.

There's no doubting that the errors from the Spaniard have cost Leeds some points this season, and I was surprised to see Bielsa stick with him after his error against Nottingham Forest.

It's important that he builds on this performance against Bristol City though, as Illan Meslier is a more than good enough option to replace him in the starting XI this season.

Leeds looked back to their best against the Robins, and if they continue to play like this for the remainder of this year's campaign, then I can see no reason why they won't win promotion into the Premier League this term.
