Leeds United looked on course to secure Premier League promotion before the EFL delay and many Whites fans have been discussing their options in defensive midfield if they're a top-flight club next season.

Leeds are top of the Championship but have seen their promotion push put on hold due to the current delay to football.

It has been reported that the EFL is optimistic about getting the Championship back underway in June, while it is understood that most end-of-season mathematical proposals would see the Whites go up and end their 16-year absence from the Premier League.

A debate has been sparked on Twitter about the club's options in holding midfield, should Leeds be a Premier League side next term.

Promotion would likely mean they hold onto talismanic defensive midfielder Kalvin Phillips, who has been instrument once again this season.

The options beyond him are much more uncertain. Adam Forshaw, perhaps his natural replacement in the squad, has been missing for long periods due to injury, while Ben White, who has stepped in when Phillips has been missing, may not be at the club next term.

Marcelo Bielsa has shown his willingness to put faith in youth and does has the likes of Jamie Shackleton, Alfie McCalmont, Nohan Kenneh, and Jack Jenkins at the club.
