Business duo closing in on Nottingham Forest takeover

Published

on

Nottingham Forest are set to be taken over by American businessmen John Jay Moores and Charles Noell, according to Sky Sports.

Forest are currently under the heavily scrutinised ownership of Fawaz al Hasawi, who has overseen numerous managerial changes as well as the sale this summer of the club’s brightest young star Oliver Burke.

The news that a takeover is close to completion will surely come as welcome news to Nottingham Forest fans, who will be keen to see the club move forward and away from the Fawaz era.

Sky Sports reports that Fawaz is now willing to walk away from the club entirely, after initially insisting on maintaining a stake within the club.

New potential owners Moores and Noell are no strangers to owning sports clubs, with Moores the  former owner of MLB club San Diego Padres.

The deal is believed to be worth around £50m.
