Burton boss says ‘character’ is crucial to new signings

Burton Albion manager Gary Rowett says the character of a player is integral when bringing a squad together.
The Brewers have captured six players as they prepare for another season in League Two. ‘Well known’ in the game are the type of players Rowett wants and has brought in, like John Mousinho, Stuart Beavon and Lucas Akins.
Rowett said ”We’ve looked at it really, really closely, we want good characters and we want players who want to work hard. We want players to be athletic and to be able to do what we want.”
”John Mousinho comes very highly regarded, Shane (Cansell-Sherriff) we know, obviously, is a great lad, Stuart (Beavon) has a glowing reputation and Lucas Akins the same. He just loves to work hard at his football.” added Rowett.
The Brewers boss admits to making a couple of mistakes last summer in terms of signings and is working hard to find the right characters that will fit with the current squad.
”It was a good learning curve for myself, you’ve got to get the right types as well. That’s something that last season we had a small issue with. They’ve got to fit into your team and ethos.”
