Burton Albion have handed a trial to striker Jonny Lockie, according to his current team Spalding United’s official Twitter account via the Burton Mail.

Jonny Lockie is considered one of the most talented young prospects in non-league football at the moment.

The teenage sensation scored in Spalding’s recent 2-0 win over Rushall Olympic in the Integro League Cup with plenty of scouts in attendance.

Tulips’ boss Dave Frecklington said:

“He’s performed well and scored a good goal on Tuesday night which added to that interest from Burton Albion.

If he keeps going, he has all the right attributes.

He’s a prospect who will attract attention because of his age and ability.”

The official Spalding United Twitter account added to this by saying that scouts were impressed with Lockie’s performance and that Burton have invited him for a trial.

The 17-year-old had a trial at Leicester City last season and is tipped for big things in the future.

Burton fans – would Lockie be a good signing? Let us know in the comments below…
