The Burton Albion fairy tale has continued this season as they have defied all expectations and stayed in the Championship.

With most pundits and spectators backing Burton to go down, the Brewers have been stubborn, hard to break down and have narrowly escaped relegation back to the third tier.

Their meteoric rise from non-league to the Championship continues as they look to cement themselves as a regular in this division.

In order to do so, Burton Albion will need another successful summer of business.

An area that they must target is left back.

Burton have been lacking a natural left-footed defender who can play in that position and it is something they need to improve next season.

The player that Burton must target is Southend United's Ben Coker.

One of the top performers in the division, Coker might be tempted to leave Southend after they failed to achieve a play-off spot this season.

The 27-year-old will be keen to play at a higher level and this transfer window could be his last chance to earn himself a move to the Championship.

After playing more than 100 games for Southend, the former Colchester and Histon left back is entering the last year of his contract with the Shrimpers.

Burton should look into convincing Coker to trade the Essex coast for Staffordshire to help their Championship campaign next year, especially with John Brayford due to return to Sheffield United at the end of his loan.

The Brewers could secure a cut price deal for Ben Coker.
