Burton Albion are plotting a move for Charlton Athletic winger Charlie Kirk, according to Football Insider.

The League One outfit are hoping to sign the 25-year-old ahead of Tuesday evening’s deadline.

Kirk has been absent from the Addicks’ squad for the last five league games, which has opened the door for a potential exit this month.

The forward signed for Charlton in 2021 from Crewe Alexandra, making 29 league appearances with the club since his arrival.

Burton are hoping they can lure the player away from the Valley this month in order to boost their survival chances in the third tier.

Kirk has featured 21 times for Charlton in the league this season, contributing three goals and four assists.

Dean Holden’s side are currently 15th in the table with the new manager having overseen three wins, two defeats, and one draw in the league since his December appointment.

It could yet be a busy final couple of days for both clubs involved as they look to pursue any squad improvements they can make before the window shuts at 11pm tomorrow evening.

The Verdict

Kirk has been dropped from the Charlton team in recent weeks which does raise questions over his future with the club.

He has performed well this season and has had a much greater impact than his first campaign with the club.

But Holden has opted not to use him, which opens the door for Burton to strike a deal.

He could prove to be a very smart signing for Albion, who will need some attacking reinforcements to aid their bid for survival in League One.
