Burnley are said to be weighing up a move for Watford defender Craig Dawson according to Sky Sports.
Dawson caught the eye with some impressive showings for Watford last season in the Premier League, although his efforts were unable to stop them from being relegated into the Championship.
The centre-back made 30 appearances in total for the Hornets in the 2019/20 season, and chipped in with two goals altogether.
A move to Burnley could be tempting for Dawson, with Sean Dyche’s side establishing themselves well in the top-flight nowadays.
Burnley finished tenth in the Premier League last season, and will be hoping they can get off to a winning start in this year’s league campaign when they take on Leicester City this weekend.
But any potential move by the Clarets for Dawson is dependent on the future of James Tarkowski, who has recently been linked with a move to West Ham United.
It is claimed by Sky Sports that Burnley were previously interested in signing Dawson back in 2019, although a move to Turf Moor failed to materialise for one reason or another.
West Ham have already seen two bis for Tarkowski rejected by Burnley, with Sean Dyche’s side clearly keen to keep the defender at the club for the 2020/21 season.
But if he is to depart the club, then it seems as though Dawson will be their man transfer target before the summer transfer window reaches a conclusion.

He’d be a solid signing for Burnley.
Dawson made a positive impact at both ends of the pitch for Watford last season, and I think Burnley are making a smart move in targeting him, as I’d be surprised if he was willing to stay in the Championship this term.
If Tarkowski is to depart, then Dawson will surely arrive, especially after not featuring in Watford’s first match of the 2020/21 season.
