Burnley table six-figure offer for Blackpool defender

Published

on

Burnley have submitted a £750,000 bid for Blackpool right-back Jordan Gabriel, as per a Patreon report from journalist Alan Nixon.

The report states that the Clarets have been chasing the 23-year-old for weeks, with their bid representing a step-up in their interest.

Burnley have also learned Blackpool’s valuation of the young defender, with Nixon’s report stating that the Seasiders are wanting £3 million for the right-back they bought from Nottingham Forest last summer.

The attack-minded defender featured 25 times in the league for the Lancashire outfit last time out, however, he only appeared twice in Blackpool’s last 12 games of the 2021/22 campaign.

25 questions about Burnley’s most unforgettable moments in their history – Can you get 100% correct?

WHAT YEAR WERE BURNLEY FOUNDED?

Nixon’s report suggests that Burnley could come in again with another offer, whilst indicating that both clubs could settle on a fee somewhere in the middle.

The verdict

Gabriel adapted well to his first season in the Championship, after playing an integral role at Bloomfield Road during his loan stint with the club the campaign before – a year where they secured promotion from League One.

The attacking full-back, who possesses bundles of pace, energy and ability on the ball, is just as competent defensively, winning the majority of his defensive duels and having great positional sense too.

Burnley have made a real go of recruiting more youthful yet quality players this summer, with the likes of Scott Twine, Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Luke McNally backing this up.

A move for Gabriel would therefore make sense under Vincent Kompany’s stewardship, with Burnley looking like an attractive destination for players in their early twenties as things stand.
