Everton have tabled a £20 million offer for Burnley winger Dwight McNeil and are in advanced talks to sign the 22-year-old with the Clarets happy to accept the fee in installments, according to 90min.

The Toffees have been linked with McNeil already this summer and reports emerged earlier today indicating that they are now hopeful of agreeing a deal with the Championship club.

90min has shed further light on the situation – reporting that Everton have made an offer in the region of £20 million including add-ons for the young attacker.

Additionally, it is said that Burnley are happy to accept the fee in installments rather than all upfront.

It is said that McNeil is keen to join the Toffees, who can offer him a route back to the Premier League after the Turf Moor outfit's relegation last term.

The 22-year-old still has two years left on his current deal with the Clarets, who also have a further one-year option.

He joined them as an academy player from Manchester United in 2014 and has gone on to make 147 appearances in total – scoring seven times and providing 17 assists.

The Verdict

With the start of the new season nearly upon us, there will have been Burnley fans starting to believe that they could keep hold of McNeil for 2022/23 but it seems he may well be on the move.

That's understandable as the 22-year-old is a Premier League quality player and deserves to be playing in the top flight.

A fee in the region of £20 million seems fair given his contract status and Burnley's relegation while the club's stance on installments reflects the strong work they've done in the transfer market already this summer.

It remains to be seen what impact McNeil's exit could have on Maxwel Cornet's future.
