This week, the Reds will finally find out just how much they will have to shell out for their summer signing from a tribunal.

Due to the fact the England international was under the age of 24 when the deal was completed, the Clarets are in line for a hefty amount of compensation.

Having impressed last season in the Premier League, the former Bournemouth youngster was a target for a number of teams including Tottenham Hotspur.

Liverpool are believed to have offered around £4m in compensation after signing him upon the expiration of his deal at Turf Moor.

However, the two sides could not agree a fee and a tribunal in order to thrash out a deal was always on the cards it seems.

'This tribunal claim will be the biggest in history,' club chief executive David Baldwin said.

Though he has since made his senior debut for England, only to be ruled out for the season with a horror ligament injury, neither of those events will be taken into consideration.

A decision will be made on the judgement of his value in the summer of 2015, when the deal was completed.

The current record stands at £8.5m, ironically set by Ings' current teammate Daniel Sturridge when he left Man City for Chelsea.

Despite losing their star player over the summer, the Lancashire outfit are agonisingly close to securing a return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

It's a close race between themselves, Middlesbrough and Brighton in the battle for automatic promotion, though Sean Dyche's side currently sit atop the league on goal difference.

Next up is the tricky visit of QPR, before travelling to the already relegated Charlton on the final day of the season.

Has Ings got a future at Liverpool under Klopp? Will he be worth upwards of £8.5m?
