Premier League side Burnley are believed to have made a bid for highly rated striker, Lukas Jutkiewicz from Middlesbrough, according to The Bolton News.

In doing so, The Clarets have met Aitor Karanka's demands for the 25-year-old with a bid speculated to be around £1.5 million.

This news will be a heart breaker for some fans of Derby County and Wolverhampton Wanderers, but even worse so for the supporters of Bolton Wanderers, where he spent the second half of last season, quickly becoming a fans favourite.

Jutkiewicz, dubbed “Juke” by the Trotters last season, proved a massive hit on the terraces with seven goals in 20 appearances.

Bolton boss, Dougie Freedman, is desperately short on firepower with just a month remaining until the Championship season kicks-off for the Whites at Watford, as Jermaine Beckford and Craig Davies are the only senior strikers available for the pre-season tour of Scandinavia.

The Clarets have already shelled out £500,000 to bring Marvin Sordell from the Macron Stadium this summer and could now land another blow on their Lancashire rivals.

Sources close to Jutkiewicz say that he would love to return to the newly named Macron Stadium, but the summer window is closing and the lure of Premier League football might just be too good for the Championship sides.
