Burnley could make a summer move for Barnsley man Marc Roberts, according to a report in the Sun.

The Clarets were reportedly interested in a move for the defender in the January transfer window, but held off from making a firm bid for the former non-league man.

However, they could now be set to make a move for Roberts, who has been a mainstay in a Barnsley team who have made a surprising run towards the playoff's this season, albeit a run which has now tailed off somewhat.

Burnley are having a decent season in the Premier League, and look set to beat the drop after their stunning home form has seen them climb to a position of relative safety.

For Barnsley, the loss of Roberts would represent another blow for the club. They already lost Sam Winnall, Alfie Mawson, Conor Hourihane, and James Bree this season to big money moves to clubs with greater resources, and the loss of Roberts would add further disappointed around Oakwell.

However, Paul Heckingbottom has a tremendous record of picking up young and capable talent from the lower leagues, and Barnsley fans would no doubt trust 'Hecky' to bring the right replacements in.
