The defender is now into the final 12 months of his current contract with the Swans, which should increase the likelihood of Russell Martin’s men cashing in on the player.
Swansea will have no doubt been aware that Roberts would attract interest from a higher level sooner or later following their failure to get promoted to the Premier League.
The player himself has given his all to the team which brought him through and he has now arguably earnt the chance to test himself in the top flight with Burnley.
Now is a good time for the South Wales side to cash in on his services as it is better to get a fee for him now rather than losing him for nothing at the end of his contract.
He will undoubtedly be a big loss for the club moving forwards but Martin is sure to have some targets in mind who could fill the void left by the Welsh international’s somewhat expected departure.
Swansea fans are sure to wish Roberts well in his new challenge and will be quick to remember how good of a servant he has been to them in the years gone by.
