According to the Daily Mail, Burnley have held talks with Bristol City over a £7million move for midfielder Josh Brownhill.

The central player has been in excellent form so far this season and that has seen him eyed up by Premier League side Burnley.

He's been a pivotal part to the Robins team and Lee Johnson has a lot in faith in the player having made him captain of the club. This season he's shone with his leadership abilities and push the team to within a point of the top six.

Brownhill has already made 26 appearances so far in the current campaign and has managed to score five goals whilst also making a difference in terms of Bristol City's defensive display.

Burnley are looking to strengthen their side to ensure that they keep their Premier League status for another season as they edge towards the drop zone after a 3-0 defeat to Chelsea on the weekend.

The Verdict

Bristol City need to keep hold of him if they want to have any chance of being a Premier League side next season. He's a very good player and has a lot of potential meaning his price tag could be quite high.

At the moment, the top division may be a big step to take, especially midway through a season but if Burnley put in an acceptable offer than he's not going to turn down Premier League football.

It would probably take a bit more than £7million to get him to the club but there's no reason why Burnley couldn't afford the midfielder.
