Burnley have confirmed that talented youngster Dara Costelloe has joined Bradford City on loan for the rest of the season.

The Bantams had been on the lookout for attacking reinforcements after Tyreik Wright returned to Aston Villa after a successful loan spell before joining Plymouth Argyle.

And, they've wasted little time finding a replacement, as Costelloe's arrival was announced this evening.

The 20-year-old actually started the season for the Clarets after impressing Vincent Kompany during pre-season but as many new recruits were added to the squad, the youngster found it harder to get near the first-team, which is understandable given how Burnley are flying.

Therefore, this will give Costelloe a chance for regular minutes, with his most recent game time coming for the U23s, where he has excelled.

Bringing in the Irishman will be a real coup for Mark Hughes as he looks to add to his squad to help their promotion push this season.

A 2-1 defeat to Rochdale last time out has left Bradford fifth in the League Two table, seven points away from the automatic places.

The verdict

This seems like it's the perfect move for all parties and it's a chance for Costelloe to show what he can do at a very competitive level for a big club.

That's obviously more beneficial than U23 football and Bradford are bringing in a player who should seriously help their promotion chances.

So, it's now down to Costelloe to take this opportunity and it will be interesting to see how the next few months play out for him at his new club.
