Swansea City received a much-needed boost on Thursday afternoon when highly-rated defender Connor Roberts put pen to paper on a new long-term deal.

The deal will keep the 23-year-old at until the summer of 2022 and puts to bed any rumours of the right-back leaving in January.

So far he has played every single minute for the Swans this season, becoming an integral member of a thoroughly impressive defensive unit.

Alongside the likes of Joe Rodon, Marcus Olsson and Mike van der Hoorn they have kept eight clean sheets this season, giving them the second best defensive record in the league, behind only Middlesbrough.

He joins Matt Grimes, Rodon and Jay Fulton in agreeing new terms with the club this season as Potter looks to take the club back to the Premier League.

It is undoubtedly a big boost to the club and their fans were equally delighted with the news...
