Speaking to Aston Villa’s official Twitter account (@AVFCOfficial), Steve Bruce has confirmed that Mile Jedinak will feature “at some point” in today’s clash with Derby County.

Jedinak has missed Villa’s last two fixtures, against Leeds United and Millwall, due to an injury picked up in the victory over Ipswich Town last month.

However, the 33-year-old has made a quick recovery and has been back training with Bruce’s squad over the last week.

Bruce has now confirmed ahead of this afternoon’s fixture against Derby that Jedinak will feature at some point.

Villa are heading to the Pride Park Stadium looking to return to winning ways following back-to-back draws, which has seen Bruce’s side slide to fifth in the Championship table.

Derby currently sit narrowly above Villa in the table, with both clubs looking to strengthen their grip on a place in the top-six when they meet this afternoon.

Whilst Villa have been boosted by the return of Jedinak for this afternoon’s clash, Bruce is likely to be without Alan Hutton, Chris Samba and Henri Lansbury, who have all joined a lengthy list of absentees at Villa Park.

The Verdict

Jedinak is a key player at Villa Park, with the midfielder a favourite of Bruce during his time at the club.

The Australian international has struggled with injuries this season, but there is little doubt that when he is available, they are a stronger outfit.

Injuries could hand Jedinak another start this afternoon, and Bruce will be hoping the 33-year-old can enjoy an injury-free afternoon.
