It is looking likely that Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce will have to play Birkir Bjarnason in left midfield tonight, due to the absence of Albert Adomah and Jack Grealish.

Would this be a bad move putting the Icelandic star out on the left?

We discuss....

Alfie Burns

I don’t think it would be a bad move at all, Bjarnason has great versatility, and without Adomah or Andre Green available, I believe he is Villa’s best option on the left.

Bruce’s starting XI on Saturday lacked balance, and although Bjarnason isn’t a naturally left-sided player, his style would bring the balance back to Villa’s midfield.

Chris Gallagher

Yes, it would.

The Iceland international has proven he is quality in central midfield and doesn't have the pace or dribbling ability to play out wide.

As well as that, Preston at home is a game where Villa will have to be on the front foot and that certainly won't suit Bjarnason in a wide role.

Albert Adomah's absence has left Steve Bruce in a difficult position but Bjarnason isn't the answer.

George Dagless

Bruce has to avoid doing this.

The Icelandic international really has struggled when he's been put out on the left hand side this season.

If Bruce can avoid doing it, he needs to play someone else out there.

Sam Preston

I would rather bring in Josh Onomah to better replicate the threat of Adomah on the left.

However, any move that gets Robert Snodgrass back on the right flank and Ahmed Elmohamady away from right wing is a good one.

It's not an ideal solution and I think Bjaranson had a deceng game from the centre of the park on Saturday as well.
