Bristol Rovers are currently in the process of preparing for their return to Sky Bet League Two, after Joey Barton saw his side succumb to relegation despite fighting to the bitter end.

It has been a whirlwind start to Barton's tenure in charge and big changes are expected at the Memorial Stadium this summer.

Several players have already departed for pastures new, whilst the former Fleetwood Town man is currently putting plans in to place to strengthen the current options that he has available to him.

New singings certainly appear likely over the coming weeks, with the Gas sure to have their sights set on an immediate return to League One.

Here, we round up all of the latest transfer rumours that have been swirling around the club in recent days.

Sheffield Wednesday rival Gas for winger

Sheffield Wednesday and Doncaster Rovers are the latest clubs to have joined the Gas in the race to sign Barnsley winger Luke Thomas on loan next season, as per a recent report by Gloucestershire Live.

The 22-year-old's future at Oakwell remains uncertain after finding first team opportunities hard to come by and the player has just returned to the club after a loan spell with Ipswich Town.

It is said that the player would be interested in a return to the West Country this summer as that is where he and his family are from.

However Rovers will definitely have a fight on their hands to convince Thomas to drop two divisions if Wednesday and Donny come calling this summer.

Club set for double deal

As reported earlier today by Bristol Live, the club are closing in on double signing of Aaron Collins and Harvey Saunders from Forest Green Rovers and Fleetwood Town respectively.

The Gas have already made five signings so far and it now appears that Barton is set to bring in the two strikes as he looks to bolster his attacking options.

Collins scored 11 goals and assisted a further seven last term and is out of contract this summer, meaning that he is set to move to the Memorial Stadium on a free transfer.

Whilst Saunders is also set to depart Fleetwood after finding out that he would not be getting retained by the Highbury Stadium club.

Midfielder linked with exit

The 72 have also recently reported that Rovers midfielder Abu Ogogo is wanted by a host of National League clubs, with Southend United and Dagenham and Redbridge said to be leading the chase for the 31-year-old.

The midfielder's contract is up in the West Country come the end of June and it appears that a move away is becoming all the more likely.

Ogogo previously played for Dagenham for a good number of years and may well be keen on another crack at getting the London club promoted back to the Football League.

Meanwhile Southend also presents a good option for the veteran, with the Shrimpers also looking to bounce back to the EFL after being relegated.
