Bristol Rovers have placed a price tag of £2million on leading marksman Jonson Clarke-Harris amid transfer interest from Championship side Charlton Athletic, according to Bristol Live.

Clarke-Harris has impressed since making the move to Rovers last January, with the ex-Coventry City man having netted 20 goals in 44 appearances during this time, and it now appears Charlton are targeting his services to help boost their survival bid.

Lee Bowyer is looking to bolster his side's attacking ranks with Lyle Taylor set to see his Addicks contract expire in the summer, and it seems the Charlton boss is focusing on the third tier with Blackpool striker Arnaud Gnanduillet having also been linked.

Rovers will be eager to keep hold of Clarke-Harris given he has netted 12 goals so far this campaign despite experiencing some injury troubles, and it is believed the Gas are aiming to receive around £2million if the forward does move on this month.

Ben Garner's side are currently experiencing a poor run of form which has seen them fail to win any of their last six matches, while Clarke-Harris has only managed to score two goals since initially suffering an injury in late September.

The Verdict

Charlton must make it one of their main priorities to sign a striker this month given the uncertainty surrounding Taylor's future at the club, and Clarke-Harris' goalscoring record over the last 12 months suggests he would be a good fit at The Valley.

There should be no concerns surrounding Clarke-Harris' ability to step up to the Championship given both Taylor and Macauley Bonne have make the jump this campaign, and I can really see Bowyer taking the punt on Clarke-Harris for this price.

It is true that Clarke-Harris has not been in the best goalscoring form since his return from injury, but a move to the Championship may now be exactly what he needs given he has proven himself in League One over the last 12 months.
