Bristol Rovers are interested in signing Southampton centre back Will Tizzard, a report from Bristol World has revealed.

Tizzard has so far yet to make his first-team debut for Southampton, having spent the past few years featuring for the club at both Under 18 and Under 23 level.

Now however, it seems as though the 19-year-old may be starting to attract attention from elsewhere, as the prospect of senior football becomes a possibility for the centre back.

According to this latest update, Bristol Rovers are now taking an interest in Tizzard, as they look strengthen their central defensive options in the transfer market.

It is thought that the newly promoted League One club are exploring both permanent and loan targets, with around a month to go until the window closes.

The Gas have apparently watched Tizzard over the course of the last year, and are now considering whether to make a move for the teenager, who signed his first professional contract with Southampton last year.

The Verdict

This could certainly be a useful addition for Bristol Rovers if they can get it over the line.

Given they have made just one central defensive signing this summer in James Connolly, it does seem as though that is an area where they could benefit from further recruitment.

In Tizzard, they would be getting a hugely promising option to fill that role, and one whose physical presence could allow him to fit in well with the club's playing style.

Considering the teenager could also benefit from the experience of first-team football, it may be in the best interests of all involved if this is a deal that they work to complete quickly.
