League One side Bristol Rovers have announced the departure of young striker Deon Moore after he failed to break through into the first-team.

A statement on the club website revealed that Moore had departed the club for pastures new in Ben Garner's first outgoing as Rovers boss since being appointed last month.

The 20-year-old signed for the club in the summer of 2018 and linked up with the development squad, having spent time with Carshalton Athletic and Peterborough United during the early stages of his career.

The striker was tipped for a first-team future at The Memorial Stadium, however that never materialised as he made just the three appearances in 18 months.

During his time in the north of Bristol, he spent time out on loan with Bath City last season and enjoyed a month-long loan spell with Billericay Town during the current campaign.

Rovers manager Garner seems determined to shake up the attacking department at The Memorial Stadium, with Tom Nichols being told that he can leave the club and Kyle Bennett linked with a move to Swindon Town, while winger Jayden Mitchell-Lawson has signed on loan from Derby and Josh Barrett has signed from Reading.

The Verdict

Garner has probably made the correct move in letting Moore go for the striker's good, with him having moved down the pecking order as time has progressed.

The striker will now get the chance to move closer back towards home and make an impact upon another club as he will be hoping to make his way in senior football across the next year or so.
