One of the main positives of Bristol City's season has been the opportunities given to their academy graduates and younger players.

Zak Vyner – now 23 and with a fair amount of loan experience under his belt – has proven his worth in the first team, while Antoine Semenyo has been excellent and become a regular fixture in the senior side, and Fulham loanee Steven Sessegnon looks more and more impressive with each coming week.

The likes of Ryley Towler, Opi Edwards, Owura Edwards, Sam Bell, and Sam Pearson have also featured, while more young players have forced their way onto the City bench.

The future certainly looks bright in Bs3 but today we're looking back at some impressive young players from the Robins past.

We've scoured the archives to bring you the club's top 10 youngest ever goal scorers, according to Transfermarkt's records...

Kelly wasn't known for his goalscoring ability during his time for the Robins, in fact, he found the net just twice for his boyhood club before securing his move to Bournemouth.

The first of those came on Boxing Day 2017, at the age of 19, in a 2-0 win against Reading at Ashton Gate.

Kelly came off the bench in the 90th minute and then doubled City's lead in the third minute of stoppage time by collecting a rebound and thrashing it in on the half-volley.

The defender grabbed another in a 4-2 defeat to West Brom the following season but is yet to score for the Cherries.

Another homegrown player but one that came through the youth system a few years before Kelly, Burns' first goal for the club came in the 2013/14 League One campaign.

City may have lost 2-1 to Coventry City on the 4th of February but the winger notched his first goal for the Robins.

Three more would follow before he held the club permanently in January 2017, perhaps the most famous of which was a 96th-minute winner against Middlesbrough at Ashton Gate.

Now at Fleetwood Town, Burns has been more prolific in front of goal – scoring 27 times in 181 appearances.

The former City striker's brother famously played for the blue half of Bristol but Kevin found the net 30 times in 129 appearances for the Robins before leaving to join Crystal Palace in 1981.

The most famous of those likely came as a hat-trick to help City beat Manchester United at Old Trafford in 1978 but his first came a year earlier.

The Robins may have lost 3-1 to Nottingham Forest at Ashton Gate on the 31st of December 1977 but it was a memorable evening for Marbutt.

He scored the home side's only goal that day, the first of his professional career at the age of just 19.

There's a strong argument to be made that Abraham is the Robins' best loan signing ever, but this isn't the place to make that call.

The striker joined City from Chelsea as a teenager in the 2016/17 season with the Premier League club keen for him to cut his teeth at senior level.

Abraham did just that and would go on to score 26 goals in 40 appearances for the Bs3 outfit, becoming a firm fan favourite in the process.

The first of which came against Wycombe in the EFL Cup in August 2016, while he was still just 18.

The former QPR and Tottenham centre-back joined City on loan in the early days of his career, making 30 appearances in 2010/11 as a teenager.

It seems the England international had an aerial presence even then and made himself popular amongst the fans early on in his stay in Bs3, grabbing his first professional goal against rivals Cardiff City.

Caulker nodded in the opener against the Bluebirds in the Welsh capital in October 2010 but City went on to surrender a two-goal lead and lost 3-2.

The central defender scored once more for the Robins before his exit, nodding in a late equaliser against QPR.

The only player on this list that is still at the South West club, Hinds' first goal came in City's EFL Cup run in 2017.

The Robins put five past Plymouth Argyle in the first round and the young striker netted his first professional goal – grabbing the fourth with a long-range strike.

That wasn't Hinds' only contribution in the cup run either as he scored another scorcher against Premier League Watford a few weeks after.

Hinds has barely featured for the Robins since and spent much of his time out on loan and with his contract set to expire in the summer, could well be on the move.

The current Derby County assistant coach started his playing career in Bs3  before going on to feature for the likes of Fulham, Reading, and Brighton.

Though he wasn't known for his goalscoring exploits and spent most of his time at Ashton Gate at right-back, Rosenior scored twice in his 21 appearances in a City shirt.

The first of those came at the age of 18 in December 2002, as the Robins beat Stockport County 4-1 at Edgeley Park.

Rosenior's goal came on the eve of half-time, putting City three up after Lee Peacock and Danny Coles had also found the net.

A name that some City fans may have forgotten, Myrie-Williams came through the club's youth system in the 2000s and made his debut in 2005/06.

He had to wait until the following season to find the net for the first time and did so at the age of 18 in September 2006.

The winger started alongside Steve Brooker and Phil Jevons and scored City's third in a 3-1 win against Chesterfield at Ashton Gate.

Myrie-Williams featured 25 times that season and would score once more but a loan in August 2007 was the beginning of the end of his time in Bs3 and he left permanently in 2009.

Cotterill scored 10 times for City across two spells at the club, with his first coming at the tender age of 17.

Cardiff-born but a product of the Robins academy, the winger's first goal for the Bristol club came against Swansea City in September 2005.

A memorable occasion for Cotterill and his family but a game that most linked to the Bs3 outfit would most likely rather forget.

The Swans put seven past City in the League One tie, with Kevin McLeod scoring a hat-trick and Lee Trundle grabbing a brace, but Cotterill netted the only goal for the visitors.

Given he left the Robins at the age of 20 with 32 goals already under his belt, it's no surprise really that Lita tops this list.

Having joined the club as a 16-year-old after being released by Chelsea it didn't take too long for the striker to force his way into the starting XI.

Lita's first came in the English third tier in the 2002/03 campaign. City beat Port Vale 3-2 at Vale Park at the end of September 2002, with the 17-year-old coming off the bench to score a 90th-minute winner.

He finished that season with just two goals but found the net five times in 2003/04 and 25 times in 2004/05.
