Bristol City's Korey Smith has admitted to the Bristol Post that he didn't expect City's 6-0 hammering of Bradford last night.

The Robins were seeking three points to secure an automatic promotion place to the Championship and won comfortably away at Valley Parade.

Smith spoke about how well Bradford have played at home this season and their run in the FA Cup and probably would of been happy scrapping a 1-0 win.

"We never thought it would turn out anything like that," admitted Smith.

"To be honest, we all expected it to be a really tough place to come and get a result. Some good teams have lost here this season and Bradford even beat Chelsea and Sunderland in the FA Cup. We thought they would give us a really hard game.

"The pitch was not great and we knew it would be difficult to play good football. We knew we would have to play the correct way and we did that in the first half. In the second half we opened up and had the players who could finish things off."

In the space of eight days, Bristol have beaten promotion hopefuls Swindon, drawn against rivals Preston and then recorded their biggest win of the season against Bradford to gain promotion with three games left of the season which Smith is very pleased with.

"We looked at April and thought it would be a really hard month, but beating Swindon, getting a draw at Preston and coming to Bradford and winning like this is amazing." said Smith.

"We've done it in style and we're absolutely delighted. To play like this and win this well means a lot. We're all buzzing and I'm so happy. What a way to do it!"

City had been on the road for the past six days before last nights game, having departed Bristol on Thursday to prepare for the game against Preston on Saturday and then stayed north for the Bradford match. For that, Smith believes that the team deserved to be promoted.

He said: "We've been away from wives and girlfriends for six days and nights and we're all looking forward to getting home.

"To be fair, this is not the first time we've done this. We've been doing it on a regular basis all season and we deserve to be successful. everyone has worked so hard.

"Those long away trips have helped bring us closer together as a group, but it will be nice to finish the job off and win the title at home on Saturday."
