2019 was a productive year for Bristol City both on and off the pitch, as Lee Johnson has set about building a team that can challenge for the play-offs, while the club is also financially stable.

The Robins are in the best place that they can possibly be right now, as they have entered 2020 with a hope of optimism that they will be able to push for a promotion to the Premier League come May.

Here, we take a look at Bristol City's most memorable moments of 2019 as the club enters the new year with high hopes ahead of them...

Seeing Lloyd Kelly depart for Bournemouth

Defender Lloyd Kelly rose through the youth ranks with his hometown club and managed to make his way into the first-team setup as he appeared 48 times for the Robins.

In the summer, he made the move to Premier League club AFC Bournemouth for a high figure, but he has only featured once for the Cherries across the first five months of the season under Eddie Howe.

Nonetheless, Bristol City will be pleased that they were able to play a major role in the defender's development as they helped to push him on to the top flight following a productive breakthrough season.

Josh Brownhill's goal against Cardiff

Central midfielder Brownhill has become a fans' favourite for the Robins as his consistent performances in the heart of midfield have seen him earn a starring role in the Championship side since he made his move from Barnsley in 2016.

When the Robins visited Cardiff in November, the game was finally poised at 0-0 when the midfielder received the ball from Tommy Rowe 25 yards out and his dipping, swerving strike flew past Neil Etheridge and into the back of the net.

The goal from the young midfielder was enough to take all three points from the encounter, and earned them a memorable win in the Severnside Derby.

Their win away at Fulham

The Robins travelled to Craven Cottage in December and was able to come away with all three points.

Brownhill nodded in a Niclas Eliasson cross to break the deadlock, and striker Famara Diedhiou tapped in from a couple of yards out as he finished off a fine team move.

Aboubakar Kamara then found the net late on for Fulham after Neeskens Kebano had seen his shot saved by Dan Bentley, but the Robins held on for all three points to seal what was a victory that will live long in the memories of Bristol City supporters.
