Bristol City are interested in signing Plymouth Argyle forward Freddie Ladapo, according to reports from the Daily Mirror (20/12, page 58).

The 25-year-old is one of League One's leading goalscorers, having scored 12 goals in 26 games for the Pilgrims since arriving from Southend United on a free transfer in the summer.

But, with Argyle struggling at the bottom end of the third tier table, it remains to be seen whether Ladapo will want to stick around, with Bristol City just one of many Championship clubs reportedly circling around the 25-year-old.

It remains to be seen how much Lee Johnson's Robins want to pay for the 25-year-old, but with his contract running at Home Park beyond the end of this season, the Pilgrims will be able to dictate a price.

City currently sit 14th in the Sky Bet Championship table, six points off the play-off places having gone four games unbeaten ahead of a hectic Christmas period.

Johnson's side face Derby County, Brentford, Rotherham United and Stoke City over the course of the next two weeks, as they look to extend their encouraging form in the Championship.

The Verdict

After a slow start to the season in terms of goals, Ladapo has been tremendous in recent weeks for Argyle.

He has scored 10 goals in his last 13 games and is proving to be a real handful at League One level.

He definitely deserves a chance in the league above and could prove to be a fantastic signing for Bristol City.
