Bristol City are interested in Barnsley defender Alfie Mawson, according to the Bristol Post.
Former Barnsley manager Lee Johnson, now in charge of proceedings down at Ashton Gate, is keen on a reunion with his former defender, and looks set to make a move this summer for Mawson.
Mawson has only been with the Tykes since the start of the season after making the move from Brentford, following a number of loan spells in the football league and below, including a spell with Maidenhead.
The big centre back though has impressed for the Reds, who have won the Johnstones Paint Trophy and find themselves once again at Wembley following last weeks play off triumph over Walsall.
Johnson has already been linked with moves for Adam Hammill and Josh Brownhill, and he clearly sees some of his old players as ideal additions to his squad at Ashton Gate.
Mawson has made well in excess of 40 appearances across all competitions this season, and with Bristol City potentially losing Aden Flint this summer as interest in him hots up, a move for Mawson would appear a sensible one for the Robins.
Barnsley and Bristol fans, what do you think to this news? Is Mawson that good? How many more players may Johnson try and poach? Let us know your thoughts!
