Bristol City reportedly turned down a move for former Aston Villa striker Jonathan Kodjia earlier in the January transfer window.

The striker has now gone onto move to Qatar and play for Al Gharafa in the middle-east. He is a player that has proven himself at Championship level before in previous years.

Kodjia used to play for Bristol City, and was successful in front of goal during his time at the club, he then moved to Aston Villa where he played a crucial role in their promotion to the Premier League last season.

The forward was seemingly up for sale in this current window, and with Bristol City needing a striker it seemed like a match that could have work out well for both parties.

However, the Robins turned down the opportunity and have now turned their attentions elsewhere as they continue to look for a new forward.

The Verdict

It's interesting to see that they turned down a move for the forward as he could have been a player that can help Bristol City in terms of their need for goals in the squad.

The Robins are still in need of a striker and time is running out as they hope to have one in by the end of the transfer window.

Kodjia has shown himself at Championship level but he wasn't in Dean Smith's plans ever since he came into Villa.

Now, Kodjia has gone his own way and will probably be earning a fair chunk of money out in Qatar, and Bristol City now must look hard for a new striker.
