Bristol City have been one of the busier Championship clubs swiftly after the conclusion of the 2021/22 campaign.

The Robins have already welcomed Kal Naismith and Mark Sykes to BS3 in preparation for the new second-tier season, with plenty of rumours surfacing over the last few weeks too.

One player that the club have held a relatively longer-term interest in is Forest Green Rovers right-wing-back Kane Wilson, who scooped the League Two Player of the Season award during the last campaign.

The latest update from Bristol Live claims that the Robins have tabled an offer for the exciting wing-back, who will become a free agent later this month.

Nottingham Forest have also been credited with an interest in the young defender, however, it remains to be seen if their promotion to the Premier League will change their stance.

The verdict

Wilson has been levels above the League Two standard all year, with the 22-year-old fully deserving of taking home the division's Player of the Season accolade at the EFL awards.

His ability to drive at defenders and deliver consistently into chaotic areas has been a key weapon for Forest Green in their promotion-winning season.

He has also proven to shine from a defensive viewpoint too, displaying excellent one-on-one abilities whilst also keeping shape very well.

A move to the Championship would be justified, and given the ability he is already showing, combined with the incredibly high ceiling he has, he would be an excellent addition at Ashton Gate on a free transfer.
