Bristol City's Ashley Williams has revealed to BristolLive that there is a strong dressing room spirit at the club, ahead of their meeting with Millwall at Ashton Gate tomorrow evening.

The Robins have won their previous two games in the Championship, 5-2 against Huddersfield and 2-1 against Fulham, as they have moved back into the play-off places following some less than convincing performances over a small period.

The current Bristol City squad has been put together over the space of a few seasons since Lee Johnson was appointed as manager in February 2016, and he has created a squad that is close both on and off the field.

When speaking about the spirit within the dressing room, Williams said: "I think that one of the big things I could say is people that aren’t playing want the best for the people that are playing.

"There aren’t too many egos who put themselves before the team. You don’t always get that."

Williams arrived at the club in August on a short-term contract until January, and has found himself a regular at the heart of the defence as the 35-year-old has made 14 appearances for Lee Johnson's side, having also extended his stay until the end of the season last month.

The Verdict

The closer a dressing room is in football, the higher chance a team has of achieving success, and Bristol City have a chance of gaining promotion this season.

Williams would have played a part in bringing the dressing room closer together being one of the senior players amongst the squad, and the Robins are setting themselves up for a successful season already thanks to the close-knit dressing room.
