Bristol City defender Aden Flint has told the club's official website that the 4-0 win over Huddersfield Town "had been coming".

Flint believes that the previous performances were showing signs of Bristol City's improvement without the scoreline to reflect it and it was only "a matter of time" before a big win was due.

Bristol City comfortably dispatched third placed Huddersfield Town 4-0 at Ashton Gate to dent the visitors' automatic promotion hopes and climb out of the relegation zone.

Goals from Lee Tomlin, Tammy Abraham, Aden Flint and David Cotterill helped the Robins to a vital three points in their quest for survival.

They are currently one point above the relegation zone going into the international break and Aden Flint believes that the 4-0 win was a relief.

It handed Bristol City back to back victories to end a miserable run of form which has seen them drop from play-off hopefuls to relegation candidates.

Flint told Bristol City Player HD:

“We’ve played some decent stuff in recent weeks and we’ve been picking up with each game of this run.

“That Huddersfield performance had been coming.

"It always felt like it was just a matter of time before we did that to a team.

“We had to do something to get out of the run we had been on previously.

“We’ve built some momentum on the back of the clean sheets and it’s a good win to go into the international break with.”
