Bristol City defender Jay Dasilva has shared an update on his injury, with the England U21 defender not featuring since the opening day of the season.

Lee Johnson made Jay Dasilva a permanent figure in the summer after the full-back impressed on-loan from Chelsea at Ashton Gate last season.

The 21-year-old made 28 appearances for the Robins last season before returning for this season, where he’s made just one appearance so far.

Dasilva suffered a stress fracture to his leg in training and was initially ruled out for five weeks.

But later scans revealed the extent of Dasilva’s injury, and he was told he won't play for at least another four months.

Today though, almost two months after last appearing for the club, Dasilva posted a positive message on his Instagram story as he works his way back to fitness.

In his absence, Johnson’s side have managed to worm their way into the top six of the Championship, with just two points separating them from leaders West Brom.

The verdict

Dasilva was one of 14 players who left Chelsea in the summer, as they began they transformation under Frank Lampard.

Johnson was quick to land Dasilva, who impressed Robins fans with his performances last season, and was also keen on a return to Ashton Gate.

His return will be a huge boost for them as they look to solidify their spot in the play-offs, and Dasilva will be raring to kick-start his career again after an injury blow so soon into the semester.
