Bristol City have moved quickly to snap up Guernsey FC youngster Alex Scott, with the 16-year-old having signed a pre-contract agreement as he will link up with the Robins next month.

Having made his Guernsey debut in August, and becoming their youngest ever player in the process, the central midfielder will continue his football development and academic education in Bristol City's academic system.

Academy manager Gary Probert said: "During the period of us watching Alex and him training and playing with us he has demonstrated some excellent attributes and potential to further develop in the years ahead.

“Most importantly, he has the personality and mindset to fit in at Bristol City to continue to work hard and continue his development.

“Credit must go to Alex’s parents for being open to and contributing to the development plan we have for their son and to Tony Vance of Guernsey FC for his help in supporting Alex in this important decision which will not only benefit Alex but further our links with football in Guernsey.”

Having made 21 appearances in senior football already for Guernsey, he will have three games to get off the mark as the youngster will be bidding his goodbyes to the island soon and heading across to Bristol, where he will continue to develop as a player in Bristol City's youth system.

The Robins have become well known over recent years for producing talented young players through their youth system, with the likes of Joe Bryan, Bobby Reid, Lloyd Kelly, Taylor Moore and Antoine Semenyo being just five of the players who have managed to progress through to the first time.

Scott will link up with a talented crop of under-18 players at Ashton Gate as he dreams of being the next one to break through into the first team.

The Verdict

Scott is a bright talent who has been plucked from Guernsey by Bristol City, and they will now have the opportunity to develop the youngster into a player that can suit to play the way that Bristol City want him to.

This signing is one for the future, and he could be a future star for the Robins if he is developed in the right way.
