Bristol City have been looking for a new striker ever since Benik Afobe ruptured his Anterior Cruciate Ligament in September because of a freak training accident.

Since then, City have brought in Spanish striker Rodri on a short-term deal until January, and have been linked with other names such as Gary Hooper, Wilfried Bony and Ross McCormack.

However, one name that City have been linked up quite recently, and a quite surprising one at that, is young Liverpool forward Rhian Brewster in a possible loan move.

Brewster is highly rated at Liverpool and is well liked by manager Jurgen Klopp who considers him to be a part of the first-team squad at a young age of 19.

The former Chelsea youth academy prospect has made just the two appearances for the European Champions though, both coming in this year's edition of the Carabao Cup, and the Reds could now be looking at getting their young hotshot out on loan when January comes around.

Bristol City are thought to be competing with Premier League side Crystal Palace and fellow Championship side Swansea City for his signature, however Brewster could fit in seamlessly with Lee Johnson's side if he was to pick Ashton Gate over his other options.

Brewster is a born goalscorer, something that City have been lacking since Afobe suffered his injury in September, and the young Englishman isn't the tallest or most physical striker, something which could be a strength for City.

Lee Johnson's men enjoy keeping possession and passing the ball along the deck instead of pumping the ball long to a tall target man who flicks the ball on, knocks it down to a second striker or holds it up so that his side can get bodies forward.

Brewster is much more adept with his feet than his head and often the 19 year-old finds himself floating into the channels to pick up the ball when it's knocked down the line, and he would be a perfect fit to play up front alongside somebody like Famara Diedhiou, a powerful target man who can link the play.

The 19 year-old could be paying attention to the rise of Tammy Abraham, who spent a goal-laden season on loan at City in 2016-2017, and feel as if he could have a similar impact during a smaller time scale in terms of scoring goals for the Robins.

Brewster suits the philosophy that Johnson has and he would get the vital game-time that he would require to fight for a place back at Anfield - a real win-win situation for everyone if Brewster was to make the loan move.
